Who: Microfil is a
pharmacy automation solutions provider formed in 2002 by Bill Gerold, an
engineer with over 30 years experience in product development. Rusty Baker,
former CEO of Baker/APS, Henry Beattie former President of Baker/APS, and Jim
Grandholm former President of AMI Sports Management joined the Company along
with a consortium of investors to provide management and development funding.
What: The Company's
initial product offering is the Microfil 219, an automated dispensing system
designed to fit under the pharmacy counter thereby integrating into the
existing fulfillment workflow.
Where: The Company is
located in Saint Joseph, Michigan, home to numerous automated
industries and machine shops, many of which support the automotive industry. Saint Joseph is approximately 100 miles east of Chicago.
When: Please contact our
sales department for shipping and delivery dates.
How: The Microfil 219
first selects the properly sized vial from one of two dispensers. A vial is
transported to the filling module where a label is then printed and applied
to the vial. One of the 219 drug hoppers is simultaneously transported to the
filling module where after verification of the barcodes the count is
dispensed into the vial. The labeled vial is then placed into 1 of 9 customer
sorting lanes. The checking pharmacist compares the uncapped vial to a screen
generated image of the label and drug image for verification.
